Jinty Caley Fragilistic by loganberrybunny Jinty Caley Fragilistic by loganberrybunny
Although I went to the Severn Valley Railway's Spring Steam Gala in March 2012, the news first thing was that Caledonian Railway Class 812, no. 828 would not be running. In fact, some intensive work by the team at Bridgnorth got her going by the afternoon. However, since I was elsewhere for most of the day, this was about the only even vaguely acceptable shot I got.

Here, the Caley is waiting to depart from Arley, double-heading with LMS Fowler 3F ("JInty") no. 47406 on an up (southbound) local service. By all accounts, the pair acquitted themselves very well indeed. I don't know where the Jinty is going next, but all being well the Caley will be at the Llangollen gala in April. If you're going, I think you'll like 828!

I think they keep Jinty in the engine house now.
828 is the same class as Donald and Douglas!

Very enjoyable, and if the autumn one is as good as that then I think everyone will be very happy. :)

Was quite interesting double heading 828 with Joem on Sunday, bright blue and bright green, most definitely a striking combination.

I was otherwise engaged on Sunday, but I'd like to have seen that. Actually, what I'd really have liked to have seen would have been a double-header of the Jinty and 42968 -- apparently the combination is too heavy for Victoria Bridge, but even Bewdley to Kidderminster would have been something. One day, perhaps.

Incidentally, as I type this comment I can hear the A4 chiming away across the valley from my house, going home after a photo charter. I'll miss that sound. :)

That would of been quite a sight, almost as good as 41241 and 43106 were =D

It may be stopping over Easter because the support crew don't allegedly want to use the slot available on Easter Monday so she may yet work over Easter, not sure if it will though.

Mr Hearn on the SVR Forum has, sadly, dashed our wild dreams: there are no plans for 4464 to work in service on the SVR again before going home. Awww.

And what a wonderful (and shiney, as noted above) shade of blue this train is! I know you described it as acceptable but personally I think this has turned out pretty well. :)

It's not quite sharp if you look at it at full size, and there's a bit more image noise than I'd like -- but it's such a lovely engine. =:)

Well, not that it's any proof of course, but I noticed a printed leaflet for SSS III the other day, and 828 was in the list there.
